Arriving at Courchevel Altiport: The Most Dramatic Landing in the Alps

Courchevel's altiport at 2,008 metres is one of the world's most exclusive private aviation terminals. Here is how FFGR ensures your arrival from runway to chalet is seamless.

At 2,008 metres above sea level, with a runway gradient of 18.6% and a surface length of just 537 metres, Courchevel Altiport is not a place where aviation becomes routine. It is one of the most technically demanding private aviation terminals in the world, and for the guests who use it, one of the most exhilarating. The aircraft banks over the Trois Vallées, the snow-covered peaks fill the window, and then the runway rises sharply to meet you. There is no other arrival quite like it.

Access to Courchevel Altiport is restricted to propeller aircraft, small turboprops, and helicopters: jet operations require special dispensation and are subject to strict weather minima. The most common aircraft arriving here are the Pilatus PC-12, the Twin Otter, and various Cessna Grand Caravan configurations operated by specialist Alpine charter services. Helicopter arrivals, particularly from Geneva Cointrin or Sion, are year-round and account for a significant proportion of high-season movements during ski season.

FFGR positions its vehicles at the altiport's designated pick-up area well in advance of the flight's estimated arrival. The transfer from runway to chalet takes a matter of minutes: the altiport sits above Courchevel 1850, and the village's finest residences and palace hotels are within a short drive on roads that FFGR chauffeurs know with precision. A Rolls-Royce Cullinan or Bentley Bentayga meets you at the aircraft steps. From that moment, the arrival is managed in its entirety.

Coordination is the critical element. FFGR maintains direct communication with charter operators and helicopter services to track incoming flights in real time. Delays caused by weather, not uncommon at altitude, are monitored and absorbed without disrupting the transfer. The client steps from the aircraft into a vehicle already warm, already configured to their preferences, with no gap between aviation and ground transport. The mountains surround you. The journey to your chalet has already begun.
