The ski season at Courchevel runs from December to April. Here is what every guest needs to know about arriving, moving around, and departing the resort with maximum efficiency.
The Courchevel ski season opens in mid-December and closes in mid-April, with the high season concentrated in the Christmas and New Year period, the February school holiday weeks, and the March technical period when snow conditions at altitude are typically at their best. Each phase of the season has its own traffic profile, its own hotel availability characteristics, and its own chauffeur service requirements. Understanding these patterns before arrival allows the logistics of the stay to be planned rather than improvised.
The Saturday changeover — the day when the majority of weekly chalet and apartment rentals turn over — creates the most significant traffic concentration of the season. The Tarentaise access road from Moûtiers to Courchevel can experience queues of several hours on a Saturday afternoon in February. FFGR plans all Saturday arrivals with specific attention to this pattern: departures from Geneva are timed to arrive at the Moûtiers valley before noon or after 17:00; direct road transfers from Paris are planned for early morning departure to clear the most congested section by lunchtime. These adjustments are standard practice and are communicated to clients when booking is confirmed.
The Christmas and New Year period — from December 22 to January 4 — is the most demanding of the season. Airport transfers from Lyon, Geneva, and Paris arrive in concentrated waves over December 22-24 and depart in similar waves over January 2-4. Booking at this time of year should be made no later than October for guaranteed availability of flagship vehicles.
