The journey — Lyon to the snow line

After Geneva, Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (LYS) is the second natural gateway to Courchevel — and often the easier one for guests arriving on a long-haul connection or a domestic flight from Paris. Your chauffeur is waiting in arrivals, flight tracked, name never displayed, luggage already accounted for.

The route runs east along the A43 motorway towards Chambéry, then on through Albertville and down the valley to Moûtiers, before the final climb — a succession of alpine curves rising from the Tarentaise valley to Courchevel 1850. In clear conditions the door-to-door journey takes around 2h30. On peak winter Saturdays or during heavy snowfall it can take longer; your chauffeur plans accordingly and keeps you informed, never rushed.

The car is prepared for the season before you land: winter tyres as standard, snow chains on board, and long-wheelbase 4x4 vehicles for the mountain section. The last forty minutes above Moûtiers — the part that unsettles most visitors — is precisely where an experienced alpine chauffeur matters most.

  • ·Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (LYS) — main terminals or private aviation
  • ·A43 motorway via Chambéry
  • ·Albertville, then the valley to Moûtiers
  • ·Moûtiers — gateway to Les Trois Vallées
  • ·Around 2h30 door-to-door, depending on conditions

What is included

A signature route deserves a signature standard. Every Lyon–Courchevel transfer includes the details that make the difference between being driven and being received.

  • ·Flight tracking — your chauffeur adjusts to delays, not the other way round
  • ·Meet & greet at Lyon-Saint-Exupéry, private aviation terminals included
  • ·Child seats and boosters, fitted before departure on request
  • ·Ski and snowboard equipment carriage for the whole party
  • ·Winter-ready fleet — 4x4, winter tyres, snow chains on board
  • ·Still and sparkling water, cabin at your preferred temperature
  • ·One fixed price agreed before departure — no meter, no surprises

Why a private chauffeur, rather than the train or the resort shuttle

The rail approach is real — a TGV can bring you from Lyon towards Moûtiers-Salins — but the mountain still has to be climbed at the far end, and the connection rarely aligns with a long flight and a family in tow. Resort shuttles from Lyon run on a fixed timetable, with several stops before yours.

A private chauffeur runs on your schedule instead. If your flight lands early, the car is already there. If it lands late at night, the car is still there. Two and a half hours and a mountain climb are best spent in a long-wheelbase Rolls-Royce, Mercedes-Maybach or V-Class — resting, working, or watching the Alps rise around you — rather than changing platforms with your skis.

And there is discretion. No sign with your name, no shared manifest, no conversation you did not invite. For families, executives and public figures alike, the value of the route is measured as much in privacy as in comfort.

  • ·Departure on your schedule — including night arrivals, 24/7
  • ·Door-to-door — terminal kerb to chalet ski room, no connection to make
  • ·Dedicated vehicle for your party and luggage only
  • ·English- and French-speaking chauffeurs, alpine-road experienced
  • ·Complete discretion, from terminal to village

The altiport alternative — by air to 2,008 metres

Courchevel is one of the very few resorts in the world with its own altiport, perched at 2,008 metres beside the slopes. For guests who prefer to fly the last leg, we coordinate helicopter transfers towards Courchevel altiport — with a chauffeur completing the final minutes to your chalet.

Fixed-wing private aviation into the altiport is possible for suitably certified aircraft and pilots; more commonly, jets land at Chambéry, Lyon or Geneva and the journey is completed by road or rotor. Whichever combination suits your day, one team coordinates it end to end.

  • ·Helicopter towards Courchevel altiport, subject to weather and daylight
  • ·A chauffeured car always stands by as back-up
  • ·Private jet arrivals via Chambéry (CMF), Lyon (LYS) or Geneva (GVA)
  • ·Seamless coordination: air segment and road segment, one point of contact

FAQ

Lyon – Courchevel, questions answered

How long is the transfer from Lyon Airport to Courchevel?

Around 2h30 door-to-door in normal conditions. On peak winter Saturdays or during heavy snowfall it can take longer. Journey times are honest estimates, never guarantees — your chauffeur tracks traffic and weather and adjusts the departure accordingly.

Is Lyon or Geneva the better airport for Courchevel?

Both work well. Geneva is marginally closer, while Lyon-Saint-Exupéry often offers wider long-haul and domestic French connections, including from Paris. We run the same signature transfer from either — the right choice usually comes down to your flight, not the road.

Can you carry ski and snowboard equipment?

Yes. Our long-wheelbase vehicles and V-Class carry full ski and snowboard equipment for the whole party, alongside regular luggage. Simply tell us the number of pairs when booking so we assign the right vehicle.

Do you provide child seats?

Yes — infant seats, child seats and boosters, fitted and checked before departure. State the ages of the children when booking and the correct seats will be waiting in the car.

Can we stop on the way — for a restaurant, a pharmacy, or the view?

Of course. The car is yours for the journey. Stops in Chambéry, Albertville or Moûtiers — for lunch, provisions or simply a pause — are arranged at your pace. Mention planned stops at booking so the schedule breathes.

My flight lands late at night. Is the transfer still possible?

Yes. The route operates 24/7, including night arrivals into Lyon. Your flight is tracked, the chauffeur waits as long as necessary, and the mountain road at night is driven with the additional care it demands.

What happens if my flight is delayed or diverted?

Flight tracking is included on every transfer. If your flight is delayed, the chauffeur adjusts. If it is diverted, we reroute the car or arrange an alternative pick-up. You will receive a response within minutes, 24/7.
